ICT Activity - November

Japan (日本) is an island country in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean. The kanji that make up Japan’s name mean "sun origin", and Japan is often called the "Land of the Rising Sun".

Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands. The four largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikohu, which make up about ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area. Japan's population of 126 million is the world’s tenth largest. Approximately 9.1 million people live in Tokyo, the capital city of Japan. The Greatre Tokyo Area, which includes Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the world’s largest metropolitan area over 35 million residents and the world’s largest urban agglomeration economy.


Japan is a member of the UN, the G7, the g8, and the  G20. Japan is a great power. The country has the world's third-largest economy by nominal GDP and the world's fourth-largest economy by purchasing power parity. It is also the world's fifth-largest exporter and fifth-largest importer. Japan is a developed country with a high standard of living and Human Development Index whose population enjoys the highest life expectancy.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the pre-eminent men's profesional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men's profesional basketball league in the world. It has 30 franchised member clubs (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). The NBA is one of the four major North American profesional sports lagues. NBA players are the world's best paid sportsmen, by average annual salary per player.

Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is an Oceanian country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area.
The population of 23.6 million is highly urbanised and heavily concentrated in the Eastern states and on the coast.


Australia is a developed country and one of the wealthiest in the world, with the world’s 12th largest economy.

The 2016 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, are the thirty-first Summer Olympic Games, the world's largest international multi-sport event that is held every four years. The 2016 Summer Olympics are commonly known as Rio 2016, as this competition will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio will become the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics, the second city in Latin America to host the event after Mexico City in 1968, and the first since 2000 to be held in the Southern Hemisphere.
